Software H.Q. >> Dotnetnuke >> Announcements Spacing Fix

I recently had issues with the announcements module with Dotnetnuke version 4.5.X and above. The spacing between the announcements was just too large. The announcements module template didn't seem to display any obvious code that could be removed to allow the announcements to come closer together.

On the official Dotnetnuke website I finally found a fix via this thread and post by "palaceguardny". Many thanks to you mate and a great website you have created at http://mymagiczone.com/.

So the following is a short tutorial of what fixed my issue...

The before screen shows the large gap between the announcements on a new website I have created called www.currencyclassroom.com.

If you look at the settings for the module, and in particular the "Announcements Settings" area as below, you can see the Template code. It is the "<br>" peice of code we wish to delete.

The red ellipse below shows the area of code without the "<br>". This is what you need to end up with... Click on the "Update" link to save the changed code.

In the text editor box for each announcement, we need to click on the "Basic Text Editor", rather than the "Rich Text Editor" as shown below.

This now looks rather boring, but since I always use plain text in my announcements, it will not be an issue. We need to remove any paragraph or line breaks sich as the "<p>" or "</p>" code shown below.

 The result is shown below.

After saving the changes to each announcement, the results are quite obvious as the image below shows the announcements are now much closer together which is the desired result. yippee!!
